Material Matters Art Camp
This hands-on summer art camp invites teens to experiment, build, and create using a wide range of materials and techniques. From acrylic painting and mixed media layering to collage, yarn, and found-object assemblage, students will explore how everyday materials can be transformed into meaningful, expressive artwork. Each project focuses on process as much as product—encouraging students to take creative risks, trust their instincts, and develop their own visual voice. Campers will create a series of finished works, including a mixed media painting, an identity collage built from personal imagery and ideas, a relief-style sculpture made from discarded and found materials, and a woven yarn landscape piece that explores texture, color, and composition in a new way. Designed for ages 13–18 and all skill levels, this camp is energetic, exploratory, and hands-on. It’s a space where creativity is built through making—layer by layer, material by material—resulting in work that is personal, original, and completely their own. All supplies and materials will be provided.
