HVAC Technician

This 2-week course introduces basic HVAC technician skills including refrigeration, electrical/furnaces, EPA refrigeration processes, air conditioning, change-out, and troubleshooting. Topics include terminology, safety, and identification and function of components and instrumentation used in the HVAC career field. Successful completion of this course will provide students with the knowledge and experience to work as a Service Technician, become EPA 608 certified*, and receive a Gaston College Workforce Development certificate for overall course completion.
*Students must pass the EPA exam to obtain certification, as required by the state.

Intro to Service Technician – 80 hours

This course provides classroom and lab experience needed for skills in the HVAC service technician career field. Emphasis is placed on refrigeration, electrical/furnaces, EPA 608, change-out, and troubleshooting. Upon completion, students should be able to safely perform procedures necessary for HVAC repair/maintenance in various service technician settings.

Online registration is not an option for all classes, or the course fee will be waived. Credit card payments will only be accepted with Online and Walk-in registration.

Refund Policy

If a student officially drops from a class or classes before the 10 percent date of the class(es), a 75 percent tuition refund will be given for the class(es) dropped. A 100% refund will be made if the student drops from the class before the class start date. No refunds will be given after the 10 percent date. If a course fails to materialize, refunds are automatically processed. (The refund policy is subject to change.
