Phlebotomy
PBT-3022 Phlebotomy Experience - 203 hours
This course provides the theory and clinical experiences needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing. Emphasis is placed on ethics, legalities, medical terminology, safety, and universal precautions, health care delivery systems, patient relations, anatomy and physiology, and specimen collection. Upon completion, students will be able to safely perform procedures necessary for specimen collections on patients in various healthcare settings and will be eligible to take the National Phlebotomy Certification Exam.

Pre-Requisites:
- Be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
- Students must be at least 18 years of age (by the first date of the clinical portion of the course) and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Under 18 Registration Rule:
If you are under 18 at the time of registration, but will be 18 by the first date of the clinical portion of the course, students are able to be registered by completing a Continuing Education registration form. To obtain this form, please contact the Registrar’s Office at [email protected], or by calling 704-922-6232, to request a Continuing Education registration form, or you may register in person at the Dallas Campus. Once you have been registered, you must call the Business Office at 704-922-6414 to make payment for the course over the phone. You are not fully registered until payment has been made.

- Tuition – $250 (due when you register online or in-person)

- Criminal Background check, drug screening, medical document tracking through Complio – $104
- Physical Exam and Immunizations – $200 (if needed – dependent on student’s recent vaccines)
- Uniforms – $85.00 and up
- Shoes – 95% black – fluid resistant shoes (small color logo permitted-can purchase on your own)
- State written and skills exam (after the course is completed) – $140 (optional but encouraged)
