Are you passionate about personal health? Do you want to help people achieve their health and fitness goals working in a fitness studio, sports performance facility, or as a self-employed physical trainer? Gaston College’s Health and Fitness Science program prepares fitness professionals to work in the rapidly growing health and wellness industry.

Careers in Health and Fitness

This two-year associate degree program prepares students for careers in a wide variety of fields, whether you want to work one-on-one with clients or develop a health and wellness program for a large group of people. Careers in health and fitness science include:

  • Personal Training
  • Fitness Consulting
  • Health Coaching
  • Health Club Management
  • Employee Wellness Education
  • Nutrition

Students who successfully complete the program receive an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree and will sit for an accredited certified personal trainer exam before graduation.

Gaston College also has an articulation agreement with Appalachian State University, UNC Charlotte, Lenoir-Rhyne University, Queens University, and Gardner Webb University.  Students who complete their degree in Health and Fitness Science can transfer to these schools’ four-year programs.
