Surgical technologists help doctors and first assistants during surgeries. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, sterilizing and arranging surgical equipment, readying the patient for surgery, and maintaining a sterile environment throughout the procedure. The expectation of the Surgical Technology Program of Gaston College is to prepare entry-level Surgical Technologists who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.

Earn Your Degree and Be Ready for Board Certification

With class size limited to a maximum of 15 students, you’ll have the optimum learning experience.

The twenty-one month associate degree program is full-time, with in-person daytime classes and clinical experience.

The Surgical Technology program at Gaston College has a site visit scheduled for pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org). This step in the process is neither a status of accreditation nor a guarantee that accreditation will be granted.
