Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Medical sonographers are trained to use specialized equipment to obtain ultrasound images that help doctors diagnose and treat medical conditions. Sonography is most commonly known to be used to assess the health of a fetus during pregnancy, but is also a diagnostic tool used across other areas of medicine.

As a medical sonographer, you work closely with both patients and medial professionals and can work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, imaging centers, clinics or physician’s offices.

Strong Job Prospects

The job market for diagnostic medical sonographers is growing with stronger than average demand over the next 10+ years. The field offers a wide range of specialities and opportunties for growth, and graduates of the Gaston College Medical Sonography program will benefit from the College’s partnerships with local hospital systems.

Small Class Size and National Certification

Enrollment in the medical sonography program is limited to a maximum of 12 students for an optimum learning experience.

This program is full-time, with in-person daytime classes at our Lincoln campus. Successful completion will prepare students to take the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification exam.
