Veterinary Medical Technology
The Veterinary Medical Technology program is designed to prepare individuals to assist veterinarians in preparing animals, equipment, and medications for examination and surgery; collecting specimens; performing laboratory, radiographic, anesthetic, dental procedures; assisting in surgery; and providing proper husbandry of animals and their environment.
State-of-the-art Facility and Hands-on Training
The Veterinary Medical Technology program has a new facility located on Gaston’s Dallas campus. From a reception area, kennels, exam rooms, surgical rooms, and high-tech classrooms you’ll have access to all the equipment and resources to gain the skills you’ll need as Vet Tech. In addition to getting hands-on experience while on campus, students will have opportunities to work with many different animals in a variety of clinical settings throughout the program
HyFlex Program
Starting in Fall 2023 the Veterinary Medical Technology will be moving to a Hybrid-Flexible (HyFlex) model for all non-lab classes. This option gives students the flexibility to choose to attend face-to-face synchronous classes in-person or complete course activities online.
Ready. Set. Hired.
Upon graduation you’ll be ready to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam. Gaston’s students have high pass rates on the exam and that passing score means you’ll be credentialed and ready to work. Our relationships with local veterinarians provide our students with lots of job opportunities and many are hired immediately upon graduation by connections they’ve worked with during their education.
