Global Perspectives from Ireland offer a great opportunity to gain exposure to another culture. For students who prefer to travel with a group, this program provides an excellent option to explore different countries.

Global Perspectives from Ireland
From arrival to departure you will be immersed in the Irish culture. Experience music, art, textiles, technology, and engineering feats. This country is steeped in history and innovation.
We will be traveling with the Institute of Study Abroad Ireland, on a customized trip for Gaston College. Two meals per day are included along with housing and transportation.
Each day will begin with an excursion into the surrounding area, followed by instructor-led session.

Departure from Charlotte
Day 2 – Saturday, Oct. 7
Arrive in Dublin; visit Botanic Gardens & Glasnevin Cemetery, travel to Bundoran with stops at Hill of Tara, Tullan Strand and Faery Bridges
Day 3 – Sunday, Oct. 8
Ancient Ireland, Mythology & Folklore; visit The Cavan Burren
Day 4 – Monday, Oct. 9
From a Kingdom to a Colony; visit Donegal Town and Castle and Sliabh Liag Cliffs
Day 5 – Tuesday, Oct. 10
Visit Arranmore Island
Day 6 – Wednesday, Oct. 11
Irish Famine & Emigration; visit Famine Sites & Ballyshannon
Day 7 – Thursday, Oct. 12
Civil Rights and Social Justice in Northern Ireland; travel to Derry City and visit Civil Rights Museum and City Walls
Day 8 – Friday, Oct. 13
Depart for Dublin via Yeats Country and Sligo Town
Day 9 – Saturday, Oct. 14

How to apply:
Step 1: Complete the interest form.
Step 2: If you do not have a passport, fill out the paperwork and get it submitted. It takes several weeks/months to get a passport back. Passports must be valid until at least six months after the trip.
Step 3: Make a $600 deposit at the College Business Office to hold your spot by June 23, 2023. This will be applied to the total program cost ($100 of the deposit is non-refundable). Payments can be made in person or over the phone by calling 704.922.6435.
Step 4: Register for the HUM 120 course for Fall 2023. All participants must register for this class.
